I visit a student in a nursing home doing her APL. In
a nursing home an old lady is playing with a Ipad, she has Alzheimer and is
getting very happy when she touch the Ipad and the cat is saying mjau. She used
to have many cats in her family.
I love this picture. It reminds me when I worked in an Aged Care Facility. One lady I particularly enjoyed looking after, she bred and trained horses, when she became restless and agitated, we would sit with her at the computer and look for pictures of horses on the internet. She would immediately calm down and "advise" us which horse to invest in. The transformation in her was amazing. :)
What wonderful stories. I guess we often get very frustrated with technology but when you see it being used like this everything is forgiven.I am fascinated by how the nurses could suggest the technology? They must be very sensitive and excellent at solving human problems.Do you teach these dispositions to your students?
No, aged care got money from the Goverment for a technical project. I found that when I visites students in a ward for peopel with dementiaproblems. It's lovely whenyou see positive results of technic which we i many ways feel is booring and tanke a lot of times!
Martina I agree with you. It was wonderful that the government provided money for this project. Do any of your students work with the patients who go an i-pad?
