ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY.3.
The students here are dissecting lamb kidneys & injecting them with water to see how the filtration system works. When they see the water come out of the ureter it really cements the theory in their minds plus it has the added benefit of being fun.

  3. I find this is a great way of reaching the students who do not learn that easily through theory. Sometimes we get students who never finished secondary school. This hands on approach seems to work better for them.

  4. I get the feeling that I want to join this class... ;-)
I'm sorry I can't answer your question Ros, since I don't teach this subject. But we don't have this lab facilities in the school where I work. The students meet this kind of reality instead when they do workplace learning, so the cooperation between where they get to practice and the school is extremely important.

  5. The kidneys are the most difficult theoretic part to learn, I think. They are extreamly complexed and in Sweden the students have to learn this in teoretical classes and read and study untill they know it. And then I think they forget..... If they had cut in a kidney I think they would remember better.

  6. Jenniann i agree that the agreement between the school and the workplace is very very important. How do you make sure that the students do the learning that you want them to in the workplace?
