RELATED EQUIPMENT
I then familiarise them with the equipment they may need to know about if their client has a problem with the relevant body system. Here they are looking at various types urinary catheters and drainage bags. If I was teaching about the respiratory system I would show Oxygen masks, medication inhalers etc.
It is great that the students work with the equipment while you are teaching them. It would certainly get them used to using the equipment.Do you find this teaching strategy works well?
ReplyDeleteYes Ros. As part of their training they must do some time in the workplace. So to be familiar with equipment they may encounter out there helps immensely.
ReplyDeleteWe have the same equipment and the students learn about the different things and later learn to use them properly in a workplace. They have 4 + 4 weeks of practical education in a workplace. The education is one and a half year.
ReplyDeleteDonna, how long do the students study with you? I think that perhaps the students in Australia spend more time in the workplace than in Sweden. Am i correct?
ReplyDeletefor me this is all very interesting as I do not work in the medical field :)
